Yes I know… You guys want more Sakura, because just like me you “just can’t get enough!!!”
Well as Thursday was also a day off (hey! don’t be jealous I don’t get any holidays this year!) So it seemed like a fine day to go for some more Sakura sightseeing!!
So first stop was the Imperial palace, metro station: Kudanshita on the Tozai/Hanzomon line. It’s an extremely popular spot for Sakura which means even on a weekday a lot of people! Though it’s true that the entrance is gorgeous with all the sakura trees growing freely along the canal.
The park also has a lot of sakura trees, close to the budokan and the East garden both have plenty… but also plenty of people enjoying their picnic right underneath the trees making it very difficult to get a nice shot without total strangers eating!
So I guess I might get stones thrown at but Imperial Palace would not be my choice for good Hanami, the trees are nice, but definitely too crowded!

Then after a 2 hour walk around the Imperial Palace garden, I decided to go to the next spot… Aoyama Cemetery. Now I know some people will find it strange to go to a cemetery for Hanami, but if you actually want to enjoy sakura, cemeteries are definitely the best spots. No one having their lunch underneath the trees, it’s just peace and quiet, not to mention the great contrast between the graves and the pink white sakura. The best moment is at around 4:30-5pm when the sun starts to go down, it creates this amazing light, the trunk of the trees become black the Sakura get a little golden… Beautiful!
Aoyama Cemetery is a really impressive Sakura spot! Honestly I think they only planted Sakura trees there. I was really dazed as I walked around taking hundreds of pictures! I strongly recommend it! If you want quantity that is the place to be! And since it was a weekday it was really quiet!

babes, a friend of mine will visit tokyo this weekend. I don’t know if you met him, it’s the regular Sunday date I posted a picture of in my journal a couple of weeks ago. Would you be interested in showing him around or have a cup of tea or something? if you’re too busy or sick of visitors that’s okay, but he’s a nice kid and he’s probably more than willing to buy you a drink or several if you keep him company.
if you think you’d like to, drop me a line asap on facebook or something, okay?
